Hi I have lived in Edinburgh most of my life with the exception of a few years when I was very young when I lived in Arbroath and Galashiels. I left school at 17 and went straight to work in the financial industry (Building Society and Insurance industry) I also completed a fitness qualification and taught aerobics in the evenings.
I became a full time mum to my three children. I worked in a Primary School (in a deprived area) as a pupil support assistant for 12 years, I loved the variety of the school day. I taught Bikeability which was rewarding.
Last year I was accepted by Children’s Hearing Scotland to train as a Panel Member and I now sit on panels each month, I find this very interesting and good for my self development. I also volunteer for my local food bank.
I am a happy, friendly person who enjoys new challenges and meeting people from all walks of life. I have lots of patience and a very good sense of humour. I enjoy swimming, cycling and kayaking. I do yoga and Pilates weekly and love music. I love dancing and have good coordination. I enjoy driving.
I am empathetic and would be able to pull on emotions if necessary as I have been on the dementia journey with Mum. I would say I’m calm, patient and brave as not much bothers me. I enjoy helping and teaching others.
Cooking for my family and spending time with friends is fun. I’m lucky as I live close to the hills so enjoy walking in the Pentland’s. All in all I am up for a challenge and fun things.
