I am a fit and active granny who enjoys good health! My three year old grandson keeps me on my toes and I enjoy taking him to various activity parks. I like to keep up to date with make up and fashion.
From an early age I have enjoyed the outdoors, my father taught me to fish when I was only five and we would spend many happy hours on the banks of our local rivers waiting for the fish to bite. In the spring and summer months we would take long walks in the countryside. The mountains and glens have always had a special appeal and I have walked and climbed a great many of them including the Cuillin Ridge on Skye and the Anoch Eagach, honing my skills at Ratho Climbing Centre and the Ice Factory in Kinlochleven. Equestrianism is another passion, possibly inherited from my great grandfather who rode the pony express in Montana! I have ridden for a great many years and have competed in showing, cross country, dressage, showjumping, I am comfortable around ponies as well as horses, stallions, mares and geldings with all sorts of different temperaments.
For the last 20 years I have taken an active part in local shoots with my pack of spaniels, two of which are rescues, one was a bitch I purchased and the fourth one is her pup I bred myself. I have trained them to be working dogs, spending happy hours in the beating line sometimes in very inclement weather. Taking directions and instructions on what to do, having to stand still and be very quiet for long periods.
For the past 30 years I have been compiling my family tree by investigating my ancestors, this has involved many visits to Scotland's People in Edinburgh and hours spent at the local library. I have traced relatives back to the early 1700's.
I am comfortable interacting with people of different backgrounds and nationalities, possessing excellent listening skills. Used to undertaking role playing exercises.
Previous Jobs:
I started my working life in January 1977 as an office junior and worked in various employments until I became a personal assistant. I then went into the newspaper industry as a typesetter and graphic designer - long before computers came along and typesetting was done by hand. When we moved back to Scotland I became a receptionist at the Gleneagles Equestrian Centre, as a member of the Gleneagles staff I was given training in the importance of excellent customer service. I regularly gave tours of the centre to hotel guests and took them out on rides across the moor.
I have been a First Aid Trainer as well as a First Aider.
For 20 years I was an Operations Officer in the Scottish Prison Service, working in HMP Glenochil which houses short and long term adult males. During my service I learnt control and restraint techniques as well as greatly improving my interpersonal skills. Following my retirement I became an assistant at the Wallace Monument, giving guided tours and interacting with tourists from all over the globe.
At the moment I am employed as a support assistant.
