Biography
have recently given up teaching Art and Design after a career spanning 21 years having worked in both Secondary and primary sectors as well as general cover throughout this time. Teaching is a performance of sorts per say, with the educator seeking to engage pupils and build rapport in order for learning to take place. In teaching, pupils want to be inspired and motivated to be their best selves and produce work to be proud of. This starts with clear and compelling exposition, and even when bahaviour can be challenging facilitating their comfort perhaps using humour to diffuse or glean a connection which enables them to move forward. Patience, organisation, time management, punctuality, communication, knowledge, understanding and compassion are all benchmarks of teaching as well as experience within your subject matter in both the written and practical sense. Other jobs that I have held over the years include working as a cleaner at my local hospital where I was trusted to be responsible for I.T.U and maternity, I’ve worked at Vision Express, The Pancake place, Edinburgh Zoo within the catering sector as well as a two day stint as a trainee store detective in Glasgow. I am also a mother of two fully grown-up girls. All of these experiences inform my outlook on life, always tackling everything that I do with enthusiasm, commitment and an even disposition.
